dc.description.abstractThe subject of this qualification work is the study of the phenomenon of abbreviations in scientific and technical texts into English and the peculiarities of the translation of English terms-abbreviations into Ukrainian. The urgency of the subject is due to the need to further study the abbreviation as one of the means of modern term formation, to address the issue of classification of abbreviations and problems of their translation into Ukrainian. The theoretical achievements on the subject, types of abbreviations in scientific and technical texts into English are investigated, the main ways of translating English- language abbreviations are identified, and 200 examples of abbreviations in scientific and technical English texts are selected, translated and analyzed in the work. 7 The work consists of an introduction, three chapters (theoretical, analytical and practical), conclusions, a list of sources and appendix.
