Qualification work is devoted to the problem of theoretical justification and empirical research of the effectiveness of using art therapy to reduce anxiety in children. In modern society, most people are faced with stressful situations every day. However, the intensity of stress and reactions to it can differ significantly depending on the individual psychological and physiological characteristics of a person. In childhood, stress has a particularly destructive effect on the human body, because at this age the psyche is at the stage of active formation, and the mechanisms of emotional self-regulation are not yet sufficiently developed. It is substantiated that excessive anxiety in children can cause problems with learning, social adaptation and the formation of self-esteem. Therefore, timely recognition of anxiety symptoms and the use of effective correction methods, in particular psychotherapeutic and art therapeutic approaches, are a necessary condition for maintaining mental health. It is found that effective combating of children's anxiety requires a comprehensive approach, which includes open communication, training and practical strategies. It is emphasized that visual art therapy occupies an important place among modern psychocorrectional approaches in working with children, as it combines the possibilities of creative activity and psychological influence. Its specificity lies in the fact that it relies on the child's natural need for self-expression through image, color, form and symbol, which makes this method especially effective in working with the emotional component, in particular in cases of increased anxiety, fears and internal tension. When considering the impact of art therapy on a child, its resource potential should be noted. In addition to processing negative experiences, significant attention is paid to the formation of positive emotional experiences, the development of imagination and creative thinking. It is argued that visual art therapy in working with children is characterized by the complexity of the impact, the combination of emotional, cognitive and behavioral components, as well as a high level of adaptability to the individual needs of the child. It is noted that the principle of valuelessness in the process of art therapy work is of particular importance. The emphasis is on the process of creation, and not on the aesthetic value of the resulting work. The absence of criticism or comparison of the results of the work ensures the formation of a safe psychological environment in which the child can freely experiment, without fear of making a mistake or negative assessment. It is emphasized that an important aspect is the combination of art therapy with other methods of psychological influence (elements of conversation, play therapy, body-oriented techniques and exercises for the development of emotional regulation). Such a comprehensive approach allows influencing different levels of the child's mental organization - cognitive, emotional and behavioral. Empirical research into the effectiveness of visual art therapy confirmed its direct impact on reducing the intensity of anxiety manifestations in children. The conducted art therapy program, aimed at working with the emotional sphere through artistic and symbolic activities, allowed us to record reliable changes in both situational and personal anxiety. It was determined that the average level of anxiety in most children significantly decreased after completing the course, and the greatest effect was observed in children with an initially high level of anxiety and a low level of emotional regulation skills. It was also shown that art therapy interventions contribute to the development of emotional self-regulation, increasing the ability to safely express internal experiences, which was manifested in the reduction of fears, tension and behavioral manifestations of anxiety. At the same time, children with high motivation for creative activity and active self-expression demonstrated the greatest decrease in anxiety, which indicates the important role of personal interest and creative activity in the process of art therapy. The practical significance lies in the possibility of using the developed program of visual art therapy in the activities of practical psychologists, teachers and specialists in children's mental health.
